Got a hot date coming up and have absolutely no idea what to put on your face? Don’t want the fuss or not feeling too keen on the overpowering look of “too much”? Don’t sweat it, here’s an edit for the perfect date night look that allows you to radiate your natural feminine beauty, regardless of the social event!
As the highly loveable Disney’s Frozen taught us to “Let it Go” it’s absolutely one of the best things we can do for ourselves. It’s definitely hard living in a society where there are challenges we must deal with constantly, a few fall outs along the way and sprinkled in doubt and discourage by others, especially narrow minded people who only aim to better themselves can take it’s toll on us. Not to mention now a days we are more susceptible to negative and irrelevant opinions of others at the touch of a button, no wonder we start to become weighed down by negativity. Today it’s time to release this pressure and change this by surrounding yourself with positivity. Whether that be quitting your job to find a better one or start doing things that interest you, maybe try things you’ve always wanted to do but never had the chance to. Letting go of negative relationships and making room for new ones is also a small step in a good direction. Because at the end of the day we are only influenced by what we allow us to. If you surround yourself with happiness, how could you not be filled with it!
2. Stop comparing
You are SPECIAL, so start believing it. There is always going to be someone who you believe is hotter, skinnier, prettier, wealthier, smarter, funnier and basically better than you, but that doesn’t mean you’re not perfectly imperfect just the way you are (excuse the cheesiness). The best part about you is that there is NO ONE ELSE like YOU, embrace and own that with confidence. If you constantly put yourself in competition with others, I’m afraid that’s a race your never going to win my friend, because you weren’t designed for someone else’s lifestyle and journey, yours is ultimately unique. Be thankful for this and trust in yourself.
3. Invest in experiences, not things
It’s true you could have all the money and fancy sports cars in the world and still never find happiness, trying to fill the void of emptiness temporarily with superficial things, that leave you feeling all alone inside. Instead we should forget about materialistic objects and spend most of our time learning from others experiences and stories, as they will help us become a better person and find our purpose in life. Superficiality is merely a coping mechanism for the low self esteemers, people with issues and others who have found no meaning whatsoever in their life. If you truly want to be happy, connect with as many humans as possible, because human interaction through friendship, relationships, family, and all the feelings associated with them such as laughter, excitement, compassion and acceptance to name a few, are things that money will never have the ability to buy.
4.Change your mindset, change your life
It’s time to re-focus and re-balance by channeling your new found positive energy towards something great. Focus on being a better version of yourself. Love with the wholeness of your heart, aim to give more knowing you may receive less, perceive every new challenge or blockage as an opportunity to grow and learn, take every new day as it comes one step at a time and be present in every moment for time flies by in the blink of an eye. Stop putting a low effort into things and expecting great results, work hard and approach the game of life with a completely different perspective, with the intent to succeed. Finally, life is not about what you can get out of it, it’s about what you can add of value to life, what can you do for yourself and others that adds greatness to the world?
Are you a sugar offender? Just know you’re not alone as the amount we consume within our daily lives has rapidly increased due to all those added sweetners in even the seamlessly healthiest of foods. Unfortunately the result leaves negative effects on our gorgeous skin. Sugar should be on your radar as not only is it addictive but adds to our waistlines, EEEK! Although there are a wide range of beauty and skin care products we like to believe work miracles on the skin, they generally tend to cause more harm than not. Want to get skin fit? Here’s how! By focusing on our diet and lifestyles, we can correct and perfect our complexion in no time!
Glycation is wreaking havoc on the skin
What is Glycation?
Imagine you’re sitting at the bar with a group of friends, the long bar counter is the collagen and you’ve just drank a Cosmopolitan so you’re feeling a bit high on adrenalin and sugar, which naturally attracts more people to come hit on and talk to you. The guys checking you out see the long collagen support beam/ bar counter and walks over and bonds to the collagen by ordering another drink. That bondage is called Glycation, which damages the collagen. The damage transforms the molecule/ the bar counter into something known as Advanced Glycation End Product (AGE).
What it does:
The first day there’s nothing too noticeable, but the next day when you have some more sugar again including high Glycamic index foods, and continuously over the week after a period of time it builds up more, Glycation that damages the support structure. Eventually the collagen will become completely damaged that it will bend and snap. This means that it can no longer support the skin, thus this is how wrinkles are formed.
Sugar also causes breakouts (uh oh). When our insulin levels spike after eating foods in high GI, they promote inflammation and causes overgrowth and accumulation of cells. It also stimulates sebum production up to 60%, which can excaberate acne and cause those dreaded pimples to resurface.
How to prevent it:
A Low GI Diet is essential in maintaining a clear complexion. You know what they say, healthy on the inside leads to healthy on the out. A diet with a high GI could have terrible effects on your skin. The GI is a ranking of carb-rich foods based on their potential to increase blood sugar levels. High GI foods include ‘fast carbs’ such as bread, white potatoes, processed foods, refined grains, chips and cereals. Caffeine and artificial additives can also sneak into hidden foods, especially packet items. Avoiding high GI foods will help stop spikes in insulin and help regulate your skin. It’s important to reduce your sugar consumption to decrease the ageing process and avoid lifeless skin.
Your skin is a reflection of what is happening inside your body. When you are eating wholesome, fresh foods, drinking plenty of water and excersizing your skin rewards you by radiating a gorgeous glow. And who doesn’t want a clear complexion!
As our daily tasks and busy lives continue to consume us, we forget about the smaller things in life. The things that help you get from where you are to where you are going, the people that make life worth living and encourage you to pursue your dreams. The time taken to turn something old into something new, it’s easy to forget about them but it’s just as easy to appreciate what we have and have faith in where we’ll end up. Stay humble, stay motivated, don’t compare and don’t dwell on the past, only aim for success. Be greater than you were yesterday and be thankful for what life has already given you and what is yet to come.

Do you suffer from dull, dry and flaky skin that never seems to hold foundation as it should, and breakouts come and go like some of the seasons latest annoying trends? After all the skin is one of the largest organs on the body, so here’s a few ways to boost your moisture, achieve a radiant glow and have a better and younger looking complexion by following my daily skincare routine. Make a promise to yourself to stick to it for at least a week to allow time to heal, rejuvenate and replenish the skin and you will see better results in no time.
When you wake up
Wash your face with some cold water first (just to remove any dirt or oils) and apply an SPF based moisturiser, that way your skin is protected from the suns harmful UV rays and will last longer. Dryness makes skin rough, so the best way to smooth skin is to baby it with moisturiser. With such a variety of brands and products on the market, it does become overwhelming as to which ones really work just for you. The best option is to keep it simple and not over do it with a million different products, know your skin type and find a brand that will allow you to breathe and heal. Why not look for products with other face calming properties that will help minimise pores and imperfections such as aloe vera, oatmeal, honey or cinnamon!
Try Vaseline Total Moisture for dry skin. This works wonders on the skin in noticeably less than 48 hours as it’s a 24 hour nourishing lotion with multi layers of pure oat extract. It absorbs quickly leaving the skin feeling healthy, soft and smooth.
Also try Benefit Moisturiser Triple Performing Face Emulsion. Not only does this skin saving beauty keep your face looking radiant and lustrous but it’s oil free and contains SPF 15+. Either one of these will do the trick so why not try alternating between the two each morning, that way you’ll know what works and your skin won’t build a tolerance to one product.
In the shower and out
Ever heard of dry body brushing? Well now you have, using a large exfoliating brush with one of your favourite lotions (personally, strawberry is a winner) simply scrub to your hearts content gently in the shower. It’s a great way to penetrate the skin by removing dead skin cells, allowing new skin cells to surface. Bonus it also reduces the appearance of cellulite and gets blood flow pumping, thus improves circulation in the body and will help oxygen flow better to the face. If you don’t have a body brush, a loofah does alternatively the same thing. Don’t forget to exfoliate the face too! When you get out of the shower, again it’s time to moisture but this time the whole body. That way you’ll be as smooth as a baby’s bottom from head to toe.
Try Vaseline Total Moisture in Cocoa Glow.
It’s a 24 hour nourishing lotion with multi layers of pure cocoa butter that infuses moisture at the top, core and deeper layers of the skins surface to ignite a natural glow and keep skin amazing. The chocolatey goodness is worth the indulgence when it leaves the skin oh so irresistible.
Also try Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream.

Not so sun smart

Feeling a bit stressed due to our endless summer fun of partying and social events and as a result the dreaded breakouts have started to surface on our skin like they can be spotted from a mile away? Try Aveeno Stress Relief Moisturising Lotion. It’s dermatologist recommended as it calms and relaxes the skin with lavender, chamomile and ylang – ylang essences and includes natural oatmeal whilst keeping the skin hydrated for 24 hours. This non greasy formula absorbs quickly and has long lasting soothing properties. Say goodbye to breakouts in no time!
After a long day of sun exposure, changes in weather, ingesting different foods and bevies, dealing with stress, applying toxins and harsh chemicals ( such as makeup ) our skin would have collected an array of dirt and bacteria. To ensure our skin isn’t left with these whilst we sleep ( which is prime time healing time for our skin) apply a cleanser, followed by a night cream or moisturiser.
Try St Ives Apricot Scrub as it helps prevent blemishes and minimise pores. This salicylic acid acne cleanser is non comodogenic, dermatologically tested, sulfate and paraben free and contains 100% natural exfoliants. This formula will deeply cleanse pores and stop breakouts before they occur.
Try Rosehip moisture restorative night creme essano. This creme is clinically proven to feed, renew and repair skin while promoting firmness.
