New Years resolutions you can achieve in 24 hours

To celebrate the start of a new year, it’s time to try some resolutions that will not only make you feel better but place you one small step in a good direction and are guaranteed to stick. As most of us can agree it’s easier said than done trying to achieve unrealistic goals over a long period of time ( eating the whole chocolate block instead of a few pieces wasn’t my intention I swear, yes we’ve all been there), so here’s a few ideas that you can have a crack at and hopefully complete a resolution in under 24 hours. What better way to start the year and see improvements in overall mind, body, soul and wellness. So what have you got to lose?

Random act of kindness
What: Do something nice for someone else, whether it be giving a simple compliment, maybe helping someone out on the street or actually taking time to show someone just how much they mean to you and appreciate everything they do for you. Kindness is 100% free so spread it around, not to mention it’s absolutely contagious (and who wouldn’t want a happy person to be around) thus will make you feel like a better person. We tend to get so caught up in our daily lives and completely consumed by what we are doing that we forget to acknowledge and appreciate the smallest but more important things in life. So don’t let those little things go unnoticed and make someone’s day even better as it could lead to something even greater for you.
Try: making someone a cup of coffee or some herbal tea.
When: Now! Or any time of the day you feel necessary.

Get organised
What:It’s time to de clutter your life! Sick of being late to work, arriving an hour late to social events or simply forgetting what day it is? Now you can absolutely change that by investing in a diary or calendar, and plaster that little beauty somewhere you are going to see it every. single. day. Set 5 minutes out of each day to plan what’s happening on the next so you become super prepared and no longer miss forgetful. Also download an app on your phone that will notify you with reminders of things to do or places to go, as we generally use our phones for a significantly large period of the day ( hello the internet is a whole new world we just can’t get enough of). Why not take a step further and get some sticky notes and start leaving little reminders for yourself around the house ( try on fridges, mirrors, back of toilet door, next to the bed). It’s time to stop constantly relying on other people to be your daily reminders, and take responsibility for your own life. With these little tips how could you go wrong!

Strengthen your body with yoga
Feeling a little flabby and bulgy after last nights party antics? Why not combat that with a super relaxing yoga workout. It eases any pains in the body, strengthens and lengthens joints and limbs and calms the mind. Here’s a few toning and relaxing excersizes you can do to help tone up trouble spots and burn those few extra calories.

Hold for 20 seconds each, repeat through 3 times

Do something for yourself

What: Clear your schedule, de stress your mind and take time out for some well deserved ‘me time’. Whatever that consists of is entirely up to you! It could be reading a good book with a hot cup of tea, going for a walk down to the beach, cranking up the music at home and jamming out to some classics in your pjs, get super comfy in bed with your number one go to chick flick ( highly recommend anything with a hot, chiseled and buff main actor) painting your nails that funky colour you’ve been dying to try out or simply taking a luscious scented bubble bath with a DIY face mask. You deserve this time to be stress free and calm your mind, body and soul. Our bodies are our temples and it’s important to take time to slow down, unwind and be ready to start fresh.

Cleanse your body with a detoxing green smoothie
Rejuvenate and revitalise the body after last nights bender with a super cleansing and nutrient packed smoothie that’s easy on the stomach and helps eleviate that awful bloated feeling.

Ingredients:
1 cup spinach
1/2 banana
15 green grapes
2 Tblsp avocado
1/2 cup Greek yoghurt
1/2 coconut water
1/2 water

Method: put all ingredients in a blender and enjoy immediately!
